Sounds A LOT better than "Gamerscore". Sweet work Sony.

'A LOT' is pushin' it, MrSnap. this is the same thing as achievements with two small alterations:
1) the specifying of different levels of achievement/trophy (atrophy?)
2) the concept of gamers levels based on the underlying (gamer)score.
and these two 'differences' are just pixelated abstractions of the base data. nothing's really new -- or 'A LOT better' -- here.

don't get me wrong, i'm 103% stoked for this! i just got my ps3 for father's day, just two weeks ago, and while i'm lovin' mgs4, i've been disappointed by the lack of achievements... i've really come to love them on my 360.

now all of the playstation fan boiz can find out how awesome it is to hear a bell and get a cookie every time you finish a level! ;)

Actually it is better than gamerscore. GS is just a simple number, period. Everyone has a number. The number means nada. It doesn't even tell anything about the individual player other than how much the number is.

It seems as Sony has removed the overall number, for display purposes, which is a great idea. Focus on the actual trophies, not the number.

This is really just gamerscore 2.0 but I think it's a lot better than v1.0. I'd much rather see the focus be on the success of playing the game than how "high" you are.

And yes, it's great to see this implemented regardless. Even though I play a lot of PS3 and 360, I also get that annoying thought of; gee I would have gotten an achievement for that on the 360.

I hope this will also increase sales of PS3 cross platform titles, as long as those games support trophies. I know I'll probably pick up the PS3 titles with trophies instead of the 360 versions now.

Seems that sony has taken away one more reason to buy a 360.. Even the wii with the upcoming wii like remote which Im sure will be better implemented than the 360 version.

ur right sony is just copying the 360. the 360 had achevments and sony said lets make achevments but call them trophies.

360 is behind the times. Sony is modern, sleek and more intuitive.

Can 360 even list each level, list them side by side with your friends account, and doing it all over the net?

yes... it can... this is just a massive rip off with some minor modifications to make it look different... i like it though... achievements are awesome and assuming developers get behind it i might actually start playing the ps3 more
