You missed this play last turn. Now his Verdant Force gives him a big incentive to get rid of your demon, so of course he trades. Maybe he still does it anyway last turn but by waiting I think you substantially decreased your chances of getting the win via this route.

Here I think you want to swing with your demon before dropping a land. Either he trades and you play a 9 drop or he lets it through thinking he has you on the crackback and you drop your 4th swamp post combat and burn him out.
