Today we look at two very different Oolong teas. First up is Formosa Wenshan Baochong Choice by AuraTeas and then Tankha Oolong from The Simple Leaf. Both have their own special taste, but which is more oolong and, more importantly, which is better?
Special Note: The Formosa Wenshan Baochong Choice is AuraTea's current tea of the month.

I still say it's harsh on the end. NOTHING to do with candy whatsoever.

It can't be bad if it's Mojito

Upton is absolutely amazing in terms of sheer variety! They pretty much cover every well known tea estate I can think of.

yup - it's traditionally Taiwanese. Although India has started oolong manufacture of late. It's proving popular for the export market.

It's a different oolong. Typically Indian oolongs will taste rather different from their Taiwanese forefathers. Incidentally, this one is made at the Phoobsering Estate in Darjeeling (elev. approx 6000ft)

A Tankha is a Tibetan Buddhist tapestry - kind of like a scroll. We got some as wedding presents from some Tibetan friends in Darjeeling, so we just had to name one of our teas Tankha! More details once our site is back up again.

And I think you can taste the Darjeeling-ness of it. I had a Long Leaf Green from Upton that was from Darjeeling, and it had some similar flavor notes.

My Tahnka has green leaves still in it. And I think it' taste like Oolong, just further towards the black end of the spectrum.
