I think you should at least check it out.
At the least you'll be on Apple's 'radar' and it could be a good contact to have.
If you get accepted for the job, then maybe you could ask for a couple of weeks before you need to start and take that time to find another job in St Louis to support yourself living there.
Also, a job with Apple will mean your obsession with paying them lots of money will probably result in paying them a little less money each time.
Heck, I'm sure you'd be fine if they just paid you in products. ;)

Just try it. If you don't get it, then you don't have to make any decisions. If you do get it, you'll have plenty of time to decide (at least 8 hours of time in the car to think about it).
