The short opening sets up the Cohen song which bears the video
title. The song Joan of Arc would mean little to those who don't
know the history of Jean d'Arc. This is Cohen lyrics at their best
and a memorable melody. Each time I reacquaint myself with this
piece I am deeply moved. I am drawn to the melancholy, I confess.
Cohen's own version of this song does not do it justice. I would
not be the least surprised if he agreed with me. Collin's
interpretation is still the best in my book. The story of Joan of
Arc is fascinating. She saw visions as a child. Were that to happen
today a child would be put on drugs and given psychiatric
counseling. Lucky for Joan her visions were beatific or she might
have be burned at the stake all the same, accused of "witchcraft."
Who was this woman that she could lead men and a whole nation to
battle? Hey, once again, thanks to YT and WMG, you get to watch
this here instead of on YT. I've got to start researching who owns
the rights to these songs before I make them.

Unlike YT, I'm not sure if Viddler tells you when the uploaded video is still "processing." I sure hope that's the case because this version (5 mins. after being encoded,) is really, REALLY bad compared to the original. So bad in fact that I won't keep this up if it doesn't get much clearer before the day's end. Incidentally, not that anyone cares, it took 4.5 hrs. for this to upload. I've got videos on here way longer than this one that didn't take half that long to upload. If anyone knows why, feel free to make a comment here.
