Description

StudentCam is C-SPAN's annual national video documentary competition that encourages students to think critically about issues that affect our communities and our nation. For the 2018 competition, we asked students to choose a provision of the U.S. Constitution and create a video illustrating why it's important to them. To learn more about the competition and view past winning videos, visit www.studentcam.org

Notes from the filmmakers:
This video pertains to why the First Amendment of the Constitution is important to not only us as students, but also the whole of American society as well. In this video, several court cases, as well as the recent controversy regarding the Confederate monuments, were observed in order to highlight the importance of the rights protected by the First Amendment. Several people were also interviewed for their insight on the First Amendment as well as the topic of the Confederate monuments.
