I remember reading about that, viciousdave. Microsoft expects everyone to be upgraded to the latest version of Windows by 2014? I have a feeling that, by then, most people will be using either Mac or Linux. With the rate at which the popularity of Linux & Mac is growing, I wouldn't be surprised. I know, by 2014, I'll still be doing what I'm doing right now: using XP for my gaming and using Linux for everything else. And since I'm not an online gamer, it won't be much of a problem. Besides, the only PC game I have right now is Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic II: The Sith Lords.

Great video, emeek.

Just 3 more weeks and then we'll see how much XP users like or dislike 7. But they have to eventually migrate just as Mac people on older OS versions have to migrate to the latest as well.

I dont run into too much trouble, as a former MPV'er, on the Windows side, I must say, even though I fought for Vista, jesus crist the question always popped into my mind "is it compatible with Vista"

But really it isn't relivant now, by 2010, all hardware for pc now is
"built for vista" so in a few years I dont think it will be as much of a problem as Vista was.
Still a problem is a problem regardless of magnitude.

Good video

Man, the quality of this video is so much better in HD on youtube Eric. But I enjoyed your thoughts very much. Windows 7? Meh, I'll try out the beta on my old Dell PC for the hell of it, and tell all of you guys what I think of it.

Well Linux perty much got Microsoft shaking in there boots, especially with the popularity in netbooks, and OEM reconigiation of Linux. The thing is that if people like Linux on there netbooks they'll want it on there Desktops as well. Thus why Microsoft will soon go the way of the dinosaur.

Microsoft said in a statement that it "thinks" that Windows 7 will be popular on net books yet it has an even larger overhead then vista.

i dont want to have to buy another copy of windows so soon, its likely that i would be pirating it as i bought vista only july 2007 and paid £115 for it, so no.

P.S.

this should have been a free upgrade for existing vista users

Microsoft appears to have their pwn way of doing things, Because they fell that since they already have the biggest chunk of the market place, they think that people will "give up and go with the flow" of how they do things. Just like Nador had to "force" car makers to put saftey belts in their cars, even thought the people wanted them, they refused to put thsoe belts in the cars untill forced too. Now Microsoft if becoming more and more like a company like that, they will not change their tune untill their profits changes.
