...but what's the point of getting a cork out of an empty bottle? This wouldn't work so well for a bottle that is mostly full of wine (which, I imagine, is when you would want to get the cork out). It would be pretty messy.

I had a pefectly wonderful bottle of absinthe that had corked. After forcing the cork into the bottle in order to get to the contents, I carefully decanted the absinthe into another bottle, removing the dregs of the cork that remained. But what to do with the subborn cork that refused to come out of the bottle? This video showed me exactly what to do. Many thanks to Kate at the Absinthe Museum who sent this link to me.
