Description

Postakamri village of
Tangail's Mirzapur upazila. There are many
power-run irrigation rooms all over boro lands. We found lights
over all the rooms. Farmers can see when the electricity is
available because of those lights.

Tangail district has 7 crore taka subsidy for irrigation
this
year. This is to ensure irrigation on 170,000 hectares of land.
But, farmers are not getting this. Farmers have asked
themselves
what's the core problem of this
miscommunication?

Government has strictly mentioned for the irrigation cost,
no
way irrigation pump owners can take paddies from farmers as
payment. Pump owners will have to take payment as per the
governmental rules and regulations. Agriculture department
complained pump owners are violating laws at their will.

Due to climate change, drought has become more rigid. This
year
all the rivers, canals and water-drains have become so dry than
the
previous year. For water, farmers are going through great
miseries.

Government is trying its level best and is very much focused
to
resolve the crisis. But, there's just no way we
can deny that farmers aren't getting any
irrigation facility at the right time. Government will probe
this
reality with great attention- that's what we
expect.
