Men have dominated country radio playlists in recent years, so cable channel CMT is highlighting new female artists in its Next Women of Country campaign. CMT executive Leslie Fram will host this in-the-round showcase and candid discussion with some artists involved in the program. After placing second on the 2011 season of American Idol, Lauren Alaina scored three Top Forty singles from her debut album, including “Georgia Peaches.” Her latest EP is Next Boyfriend. Brooke Eden, once a regular performer at Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge, recently released her first single, “Daddy’s Money.” Named one of “10 New Country Acts to Watch” by Rolling Stone, Clare Dunn has a self-titled debut EP that features the single “Tuxedo.” The first country act signed to Jack White’s Third Man Records, Margo Price debuted in the Top Ten on Billboard’s Country Albums chart with Midwest Farmer’s Daughter. Rolling Stone said her “vocal style is restrained yet mighty, her songcraft amazingly vivid, and the arranging instinct spot on.” Tara Thompson has been performing with Jennifer Nettles, Brandy Clark, and Lindsay Ell in the CMT Next Women of Country Tour, singing her single “Someone to Take Your Place."
