FYI - there is an even easier (and free) way to switch between 4-way DPAD and Optical Mouse mode -- its called chgFingerMouse. Its a little app that lets you toggle between the two modes no matter where you are on your phone (Fn-N only works on the Today screen - boo!) .. I've bound it to my Camera key (and made the Camera bound to holding the Camera key down to 2 seconds).
