A 2006 survey by the National Archives and Records Administration which interviewed 28 members of the CIO council showed that 81% agreed or strongly agreed that their Records Management solution served as a risk mitigation tool. However, they also agreed that based on current technology, it was better to save vast amounts of electronic data than to create a destruction policy since it could not be automated and therefore created additional risk.
