Keynote from "The Digital Education Revolution", Adelaide, Monday 2 June 2008. All about kids, hyperconnectivity, and the gap between how the kids communicate today and how we try to educate them in the classroom. It's equal parts rant and storytime. Seemed to go over very well.

Many thanks to the Australian Council for Educational Research, Education.au, and Kerryank for making such a great audio recording of my talk!

Sadly, I won't be in Perth this week. Conflicts with a "New Inventors" record date...

Hey great job. very inspiring!!. So many things you said resonated loud and clear. I particularly concur on your point about the use of computers being unrelated to real life contexts, that we are dumbing them down. So many things need to change. I am a teacher in Central Queensland and would be very interested in linking with others from anywhere that have similar philosophies. My twitter name is bobbartley. We need to share everyone's great ideas!
Thanks Mark. Wish i was there to meet some of the people in that room.
Regards,
Bob

okay, but you've lived through the collapse of the ussr, the rise of the mobile phone, etc. Your great-grandparents saw the rise of clean water, the appearance of something called a "vacation", etc. Each generation is at home in its own personal ocean of change.
