Description

Fruits are regarded as one of the keys to agricultural success in
Bangladesh. Bau-plum, apple-plum, guava, strawberry are very much
profitable and commercial. These fruits stand on the first row now.
This season, lichi, mango and star-apples are all over the trees.
Farmers are not only getting self-success with their commercial
fruit orchards, they’re stunning everyone with their economic
success as well. In producing crops, farmers and entrepreneurs have
integrity and efficiency- they’ve proved it in last five years. In
ensuring food security and increasing the nutrient qualities,
fruits play an inevitable role. Now most of the Bangladeshi people
can afford fruits. A great achievement for the country, indeed.

Many contributions have made this agro-sector a success. Many
farmers’ dream and labour is also involved here. Germplasm Centre
in Bangladesh Agricultural University is one of the contributors.
It started off in 1990. Battling with many hurdles, after diverse
research programmes and through development and extension, this is
the biggest fruit-kingdom and is a very wonderful place to
visit.
