On my last full day in Austria's capital, Pa Milo, Franz and Susan treated me to a gorgeous scenic drive. We visited the Höhenstrasse (High Street), the road leading to Kahlenberg and Leopoldsberg, otherwise known as the Wienerwald (the Vienna Woods). From here, we were left breathless with a bird's eye view of Vienna's 23 districts. Our palettes were sated by rustic dining at Häuserl am Stoan (english translation: "Small house on stony ground").
Later in the evening, we took a long drive to Burgenland which, like Vienna, is one of 9 provinces gracing Austria. We arrived just in time for a stunning view of the sunset (thanks to Franz's superior driving prowess!), a meditative communion with nature along Lake Neusiedl, and one of the best dinners I've ever had at the trendy Mole West.

Lake Neusiedl is the second largest steppe lake in Central Europe, straddling the Austrian–Hungarian border. The lake covers 315 km², of which 240 km² is on the Austrian side and 75 km² on the Hungarian side. The lake's drainage basin has an area of about 1,120 km². From north to south, the lake is about 36 km long, and it is between 6 km and 12 km wide from east to west. On average, the lake's surface is 115.45 m above the Adriatic Sea and the lake is no more than 1.8 m deep. (source: wikipedia)
