So what are the advantages of using the Petrus method compared with the 7 steps they give you with the cube? Is it more efficient?

There are two reasons that I like the Petrus Method.
First I think it's easier to learn to do it fast. With the Petrus method you only learn 4 algorithms to solve the bottom layer as opposed to one or two moves for each step that the manual teaches you. My hope is that this simple video is enough that given enough time someone can figure it out on their own. I just think the general concept makes much more sense.
Second it's faster. The great thing about the Petrus Method is you can solve a corner, and then you never have to touch it again. Other methods tend to center around solving one layer, and then breaking apart that layer to move two pieces and putting it back together again. essentially you have to undo the work you've done to get any father. With the Petrus method once you've solved a section you never have to touch it again.
