Wildlife Loop Road is a 35-mile-per-hour road constructed especially to get Park visitors up-close and personal with its native critters. Ask for a scouting report at the Norbeck Visitor Center. The wildlife photography is superb. You are very likely to encounter deer, pronghorn antelope, turkeys, and bison - lots and lots of buffaloes. In fact, they frequently cause "buffalo jams" when they cross the road and hold up traffic. You absolutely will encounter two other species of park critters - guaranteed. A prairie dog town on the south end is always busy with prairie dogs feeding, grooming and peeping everywhere. And when you encounter the Park's begging burros, you'll be happy you brought some crackers or cookies, because they may not let you proceed until they get a treat!
