I know I'm a bit late but I've only just discovered the concept of Emergence and I was constantly thinking about it in regards to Mob Rules.
It makes me wonder what the Mob are going to cause to emerge as they travel through this new world. Your closing comment about medicine seem to be one but I'm sure there are a countless number of things that will side swipe us without us seeing coming. Like our governments and legal systems.
