We mainly did fine until the disambiguation of media commissions from creative and marketing. Though even in those days, you could do a great job, lose the account and the new agency would make commissions off your work. Compesnation in advertising has always been something of a sucker's game. There is a lack of belief in or confidence in its work by a lot of people in this biz. Partly because the people who create the work aren't in on the negotiations for the pay. Unless they own the agency or are made its head.
