Viddler’s RSS Feeds

What is RSS?

RSS is a method of syndicating frequently updated content. In a nutshell, publishing RSS feeds allows us to notify the world when new things appear on Viddler—like featured videos, posts in the Viddler Blog, or replies to a forum topic.

What’s the benefit of using RSS?

The reason why RSS feeds are so handy is that, once you subscribe to them, you will know when there is new content on the feeds' respective websites (and even be able to read or watch the new content) without actually having to visit the websites in your browser.

With the help of a feed reader or aggregator (programs which let you subscribe to RSS feed and keep track of them), you'll be well on your way to RSS happiness. Many websites are now publishing RSS feeds (especially major news websites), so you'll have no shortage of material to subscribe to. And since Viddler is publishing its own feeds, you'll be able to keep track of current events (like your friend's newest video, or new forum topics) the moment they happen.

Where do I find feed readers?

Here's a list of popular feed reader applications, for various platforms

How do I find Viddler’s RSS feeds?

If you are using a web browser such as Mozilla Firefox or Apple Safari and are viewing a web page which links to an RSS feed, you will see an RSS feed button on the upper-right hand corner of the web browser. In both Safari and Firefox, you can click this button to view the feed.

Additionally, Viddler places its own RSS button on pages which link to feeds. You will find this button on the upper-right corner of the page, below the green navigation bar. Clicking it will let you view the RSS feed.

On this page, you'll find a list of all the RSS feeds Viddler publishes, as well as some information about RSS and how to use it.

RSS feeds for your friends

Viddler makes a custom RSS feed for all of its users. To view someone's RSS Feed, view their profile in Explore and click on the orange RSS feed button, which is located on the right side of the page.

The URLs for people's RSS feeds follow a predictable pattern. To demonstrate, we'll show you where the RSS feeds for someone named "username" would be located.

Just replace "username" with your friends username and you'll have the URL for any one of your RSS feeds.

RSS feeds for tags

Viddler also makes a custom RSS feed for all of its tags. The URLs to these feeds are shown below (with funny as an example tag name).
