Attitude – A Life-Altering Gift “If you don’t like something, change it; if you can’t change it, change the way you think about it.” – Mary Engelbreit “You need an attitude adjustment!” How many times have you heard those words or spoken them? How true they are, because attitudes are just that – adjustable! There are no set-in-stone rules that tell you how to react as situations unfold in your life. Almost always, you have the choice as to which type of attitude you will have. Suppose someone pulls out in front of you in traffic and you get upset. That person didn’t make you angry – you made the choice to feel angry all by yourself. People or circumstances cannot “make” you feel anything at all. But many of us often don’t take the time to think things out. We simply react, many times in a negative manner. Attitude spreads like a virus Your attitude is the first thing people pick up on. Just as yawning, complaining or even crying can be contagious, so may enthusiasm, excitement and curiosity be a positive viral condition. Your attitude can “infect” others and ultimately affect the end result of a situation. Are you a victim or a “victor?” Developing Acceptance and Practicing Gratitude (two of TriVita’s 10 Essentials for Health and Wellness) are key factors in maintaining a positive attitude in life. By learning to accept things you cannot change and focusing your positive energy on what you’re grateful for, you are able to put things in better perspective. This allows you to come out of the situation as a “victor” rather than a victim. Positive attitude = longer life If you want to live a longer, healthier life, then you need to develop and maintain a positive attitude – it’s now a fact, according to a study from the two American Universities. Researchers followed and studied 1,500 people for 7 years. All 1,500 were in good health when the study started. Researchers followed how they aged by measuring such things as weight loss, walking speed, exhaustion and the strength of their grip. The researchers discovered something remarkable. They found that people who maintained a positive attitude were significantly less likely to show signs of aging than those with negative attitudes. They were less likely to become frail and were more likely to be stronger and healthier. If you have a doom-and-gloom attitude, you could actually be killing yourself. At the very least, your negative attitude is just making you weaker. Researchers from two American Universities found that your beliefs have a direct impact on your body and health – because your beliefs actually alter your body’s chemical balance. It really means that what you regularly think has a direct impact on your health and your body. Because what you regularly think is what you end up believing. You have the power in you to change the way you think and what you believe. In doing so, you are open to changing your life! Yes, you can actually improve your life and your body by having a positive attitude and a positive belief system. With that in place you’ll live a healthier, longer life. Four Ways to Adjust your Attitude 1. Focus on the solution, not the problem 2. If there’s no solution, accept it and move on 3. Focus on the future – it creates vision for tomorrow 4. Be grateful for what you have – it helps bring a sense of peace for today French Montreville Skype ID# Provenmedias 1-617-487-4340 http://www.myempoweringteam.ws/ Independent TriVita Business Affiliate, Trivita ID# 13011183
