Your 2008 nano novel (back)

So what are you going to do differently for you 2008 nano novel? Have you guys thought about it yet? I must say that I haven't really. Although I do think that I'll try to write a more light-hearted story next time. I like the idea of making the novel a little less serious than this one is. It seems like nano novels are meant to be more on the light-hearted side of life, so I think I'll try to do that next year.

I probably won't do fantasy againl I love it with a passion, but creating it isn't my strong suit. I'll probably go bakc to doing more like my 2006. Actually, my 2008 will probably be the sequel to my 2006 NaNo.

I'm doing fantasy or something that isn't entirely based in reality. That was really hard.

In 2008 I want to do something fantastic and sexy. Lighthearted and magic.

I have no idea... and that's how I hope to keep it until Nov. 1, 2008 ^_^ I think the by-the-seat-of-my-pants style really worked well for me this year. However, I think I might like to try to do something either a bit more realistic (I think it would be harder and I'm always up for a good challenge) or something WAY more off the wall (without being forced randomocity).

I think with my 2008 novel I'm going to try and get as many vidmos in there as possible. I want to see you guys doing all kinds of crazy stuff. That'd be thoroughly entertaining.

Crikey!... Well, right now, it feels like doing THIS year's NaNo might KILL me!! :-/
BUT, if I am still alive for 2008... I dunno... I'll prob stick with the genres that most appeal to me: mystery, crime, thriller, horror, but perhaps with a little less fragmented and surreal storyline (blame ZERO time to plan!).
Or who knows, I may even have a go at a kids book...??

Next year... Have a more complex storyline or just a longer outline. Have more side characters and maybe a subplot. Have a happy ending.
I know I'll want to do at least that much, and probably more.

This year, I did a mystery/thriller. I finished, but it was a lot harder than expected (even though it is the first year I've finished out of 3 years). Next year I think I'll write what I love to read: historical romance. I'm a bit hesitant since my first 2 failures I tried to do historical fiction, but after this year I think I've finally figured out what needs to be done to finish NaNo regardless of what the story is about.
I'm not totally set on anything though. I probably wont be until Oct 31.

I'd like to do something with first person narration. Last year I did third person limited and this year was third person omniscient. I dig both, especially omniscient...but I'd like to see what I can do with narration being limited to solely one person and their thoughts. Leaves lots of room for random thoughts and tangents, no? ;)
I'm not even thinking about plot for now. I'm hoping to finish this year's novel. I won't even think about what I'll actually write until October, like usual. :)
Oh and I really need to force myself to unplug from the internet and Viddler and all my other distractions and make myself write beyond the quota each day. I don't want to be behind as much as I was this year. Not fun. But incredibly satisfying when I hit 50k. lol
