Viddler

Hello -

I want to add a viddler user as a friend. I click on "friends" and add a buddy list.
I then enter the name of the user but the "Add" button is disabled.

What am I doing wrong?

I tried to repeat your problem, but couldn't. Perhaps you are not clicking on the users name so that it populates the text box? Please provide as detailed information as possible.

I'm having the same problem. Can someone post the answer so I don't have to watch 22 minutes of video? The add button is disabled so I cannot add friends after making a list. I don't see any names to populate the box.

spider122: Just hit play - I've embedded at the moment where I address the problem. That is the beauty of Viddler!

Had the same problem.

Its not a bug. Figuring out how to add friends is not easy.

What you need to do:
1. On the search bar, type your friends user name and click the down arrow icon to select "people"
2. you will see the search results of different users and you can choose them to add as a friend.


Guys at Viddler:
Really.. love your service. But finding friends is plain hard coz when you click friends link on the top, if you dont have any, it just shows a blank screen and does not explain how to add friends.

May be describe the process OR show some search results of new people on Viddler that the user *can* add as friends!

None of this works for me. I have added one friend who appears in "friends". I create a new buddy list. The "add" button is disabled. I try "Search People" and enter the userid that appears in my "Friends" list fine. I get 0 results returned.

I got the "one friend" by sending them an invite. Having them click on the link they got magically added them. I have another friend already registered I'm trying to add. I did the same "Invite" request, got a warning they were already registered (so why didn't you find them when I did a "Search people"?) but sent the invite again. They've responded but they're not showing up in my friends list.

This whole area of friends/buddy lists seems to be seriously unusable/broken!

ukusergroups, I am currently working on a more user-friendly and in depth description of how to add friends and create friend lists in the FAQ (click "Help") section. In the meantime, I'll shoot you a message and see if we can figure out what isn't working for you. I'm sorry you're having difficulty at the moment, but hopefully we'll get it sorted out.

What I understand here, is that some users try and add people to their buddy lists before they add these people as friends. You can only add someone to a buddy list they are already a friend. There are two steps here.

Raphael you're wrong. I'm trying to add people as friends and then to the buddy list. I see three separate problems:

1) Potential friends already registered with Viddler can't be added. If you use "Search People" they're not found.
2) If you send an already registered user an invite Viddler recognises the fact they're already registered and tells you this (giving their username and email address) and asks if you still want to send an invite. When you select "Yes" then the invite goes out but when the recipient clicks on it they are NOT added to your friends list (whereas someone who isn't yet registered on Vimeo IS added to your friends list when they register)
3) Even when you've successfully added someone to your friends list you can't add them to a newly created buddy list. The "Add" button is greyed out. The "fix" outlined above (the one that says use "Search People" to try and ungrey the button) doesn't work because (as indicated in point 1 above) Search People doesn't work.

At least that's what I've seen today.

Has there been any progress on this. I just signed up to viddler today and I have the exact same problem of all the people in the previous posts. I see all these posts were 9 months ago. Was there ever a fix? I can't figure it out for the life of me.

I am also having the same problem. I typed the user name into search but the add button is grayed out.

Is there a fix for this? I can't get it to work either and haven't been able to have my friends view my videos... This can't be that hard. I'm a Mac user if that matters using Firefox.

What exactly is it saying when you try to add the friend, and how are you trying to add the friend?

Posting videos and being discovered is great. The people find and add you.

I haven't tried to add anybody as a friend cause of the error. Once it's fixed, it'll be time to add.

If everything discussed in here is about the 'Add Friend' link on a user's profile page, then I'm not having a problem at all.

I've been adding friends, writing a welcome message, and clicking 'Submit' without a problem.
