Wouldn't it be great if you could categorize all your videos? Ok, now... wouldnt it be even better if you can create a Channel for your specific video collection that you've categorized?!

Can't quite see where im going at? Well, Stage6 DivX does ( http://stage6.divx.com/list_channels ) if you go to their website you'll know what I meen... The only downside to their system is that you need stupid pointless Karma points to make these channels.

This will be a good thing for Viddler becuase if you implement RSS Feeds to these channels, you can easily turn your channel into PODCASTS! zOMG!!!

Think about this for a sex.. its a real sweet idea that viddler should consiter

I should add that if your a sertain fan of something this will also be a gr8 way for you to share your videos to people you know.

ie: For me im an Aviation Addict... I love Aviation and I have some student pilots that wanna learn how to become a better pilot... OK, so... what if I decided hmm... I can teach my students just by simply giving them my Viddler Channel and they can either watch via Viddler OR they can subscribe to my Channel feed and use iTunes to sync my training videos to their iPod and watch these videos when ever their waiting for thier flight instructors to arrive!

Hey, thnx for the video reply, One last thing i forgot to mention about videocasting the channels feature is that, I recently just bought a psp a few days ago, and I noticed that it had the ability to download videos/music/photos using its RSS feed reader powered by its own 802.11 hardware

the only problem was that all videos must be mp4/mv4 formats (PSP/iPod compatible video format/codec) before it could be played in the psp/ipod. That fact aside, i would love to see the "channels idea" launched with its rss feed compatible to the ipod/psp more than anything!

I totally second the "channels" idea, because it would make it easier to follow things that should be sequential. It would be nice to have all my vidcasts in one channel, school related (those silly elephant seals) in another.

To go along with this, it would be great if you could mass-change the settings on videos. So, for all the videos in a channel, you could change who views them, and tag them, as one mass group--kinda like how you can with flickr now. That way, you could mark everything private as you upload them, and then when the whole set is ready (assuming you wanted to wait for that), you could change the status in one go.

another thing to add to the channels feature is to have the option to make them private (ie: only you and your friends could watch them...)

i know this is maybe too much to ask but in the future, maybe you can make it so the private channels on viddler require registration. (ie: people have to sign up to your channels if its private) that way the channel admin (who ever created that channel) has the option to pick who he wants to see or watch his channel, and with that maybe moderate who can upload videos into the channels

ohhhh, one last idea that sparked is adding the option to add watermark text, or pictures for the channels video (and only for the channels).
if you've got no idea what watermark is... heres an example:

the watermark is located @ bottom right hand corner. I don't meen to spam but this video player btw is from ning.com's social website. This is why aviation is prefixed with a .ning.com incase you're curious

unsympathetic: Don't forget to use the power of tags. We are working hard on our next version that will allow you to do more with your current tags. So my recommendation would be for you to use your tags to separate out specific content.... like 'video-blog' could be a tag that you use to denote each video blog post.

Then once our next version is launched, you'll already be setup.

glennlopez: You could do the same as I am suggesting to unsympathetic, then mark them all as shared. Then, add each viddler user you want to have access to those videos to a specific buddy list and share those videos with that buddy list. Viddler will automatically share old, and new, videos with that buddy list for the future.

An interesting thing to think about is actually creating buddy lists like "Family", "Friends", and perhaps "Subscribers". This way you can share videos with only a specific set of people that you've already pre-qualified.

I hope this helps....

Sorry no video reply, but I am on my way out...

just to recap, i know ive said this too much but it needs to be realsed how important this feature is...

i know this is pushin it but pleaaasseeee! make the rss feed be psp/ipod friendly... no one in video sharing has ever done something like this (except for google video, but they don't use the "channels" idea). lol i know it seems like im talking out of my ass but you guys have to listen to me... if something as innovative as the channels + ipod/psp syndication gets emplimented by viddler, you guys will have a solid market share maybe toping over major competitors such as youtube

think about how many people in the world already have a psp/ipod/mobile devices. (please, please, please make the channel rss video format mp4/m4p/gp3)
