This tutorial will show you how I changed a fairly average location into something quite dramatic. I really wanted to add a sense of the “dramatic” to this particular image and I thought I'd do it with color. I remember this sky not being all that exciting – you know, kind of grayish, clouds not too exciting and actually quite dull. I knew my main challenge was to really, really “pop” the sky. The final result is a combination of three elements:

1 – Lighting technique.

2 – Lightroom technique.

3 – Photoshop technique.

Combining these three resources resulted in the photograph that I thought was strikingly different than your normal wedding image. Hit the PLAY button below to see how I pulled it off. Enjoy the show!
By ziser

I had to get all the shots I wanted in less that 15 minutes and get the bride and groom back to the reception and their guests. This tutorial walks you through the next set of images I created for my wedding couple in a very short amount of time. Backlighting and cool compositional lines make for some pretty dramatic wedding images. This week's tutorial shows me working quickly with my assistant to put the shots together and the great result we got.
Lightroom In Reverse Pt2 - Rapid Fire Retouching

I think you are really going to like the retouching technique I'm discussing here today. We have used our "tried and true" ways of doing retouching in Photoshop. Today's tecnique shows how we can use Lightroom 2 to achieve some wonderful results without even having to make the trip to Photoshop. Sure, we still let Photoshop do all the retouching heavy lighting for us, but many times this quick "rocket speed" trick in Lightroom 2 will "fill the bill" just find. Hit the PLAY button below for the rest of the story...
By ziser

Lightroom has some wonderful built in tools that literally let us put light on the scene exactly where we want it. We can easily control the densities and tonalities of the image transforming it dramatically to get to a beautiful finished result. In this tutorial, I'll take only a few minutes to take an image that, at first glance, appears not that great. After a few Lightroom tweaks and judicious use of Lightroom 2's new tools, you will see the image transformed into a very cool looking portrait of the groom. Hit the PLAY button below and enjoy the show...

In this tutorial I want to walk you through a short lesson in how to find the direction of light in a natural light situation -- say, outdoors. I think this is one of the hardest things for photographer to learn. You would think it would be a easy but, I can remember years ago when my instructors were trying to teach me how to do it and, I didn't find it that easy. I'm just covering the tip of the iceberg today but I hope it gives you some insights on how to improve your natural light photography. Anyway, it's the PLAY button below and enjoy the show.
By ziser

I wrapped with my clients about 5 p.m. The ice storms just hit Cincy and things are a mess on this Christmas Eve Eve. Anyway, my clients just left - I hope they travel safe, another just showed up to pick up a gorgeous family portrait, and I just hit the keyboard with this new idea - Conversations, Discussions, Questions and Insights. Give the video a watch, post you feed back, and let me know if we can go anywhere with this interactive concept.
