Local Farm Delivers To My Door: NaVloPoMo09 Day 13

One of the local Pittsburgh farms delivered fresh mutton stew and freshly laid eggs to my doorstep this morning. That was magic. It was so easy! Green Circle Farm raises eggs, chicken, beef, lamb and turkey that are always: Soy free GMO free Raised on pasture Raised without antibiotics, hormones, pesticides, or herbicides I signed up for their email list and every week you get a little email letting you know what's available that week and where you can go pick it up. There's also an option to simply ask regarding delivery somewhere other than what's on their schedule. I did just that. I emailed erica and she got back to me, simply asking for my address and voila, today she was here with my fresh local food before noon. How awesome is that? Super great! Especially with the holiday season coming up...why not serve local produce AND support local economy (and families like you and me. Erica came with her 2 lovely little daughters in tow.) Sunny Fall Day: NaVloPoMo Day 12

It was really lovely outside today. There was a chill in the air so you did have to bundle up a bit, but the mid 50's sunny weather made the Fall so striking. Hunter and I haven't had an opportunity to go sit at one of our favorite spots ever since the weather changed, as it was too chilly to sit out there and eat. Today was different. The seating area inside the Co-op was too full and the weather was nice so why not? Beauty.

Headless Pigeon: NaVloPoMo09 Day 11

Did I tell y'all that I got a new camera? Well, review is coming :D Anyway, This was my first attempt at creating a bit of video while I was teaching class. I obviously did NOT do a very good job at setting the camera. I did it crazy fast and didn't mess with it at all during class, hence my headless self ;) My motto when dealing with gear while teaching is that if it doesn't work swaha! I'm not going to fiddle with anything while teaching because...I'm teaching yoga for goodness sake! I hope to supplement episodes of Elsie's Yoga Class: Live and Unplugged Podcast with bits of video of the classes that I record audio for, here and there...sometimes...perhaps....if it doesn't intrude too much with the flow of things :) So, this was a bit of today's class over at the Pittsburgh Athletic Association. MacBook Hand Rest Cracked: NaVloPoMo Day 6

I forgot to mention in the video that this is the 2nd time that this has happened. Initially it cracked I would say a month after I purchased my MacBook in Nov 2006. I didn't have it replaced until sometime 2008 and now yet again. Gotta get it in before my Apple Care runs out! I'm gonna be sad without my lovely friend but maybe this will give me to opportunity to do 'other' things :) What's your favorite non-gadget related activity? Oh yea...the date is wrong on the vid, as it was wrong on the camera...didn't catch it in time. lame

A Great Big Thank You: NaVloPoMo 09 Day 10

It was one of those days. My daughter has not slept well for about 5 days now, which means that I haven't slept well for 5 days. I've gotten pretty adept at being sleep deprived but NOT this much! I could barely think today, and my energy was sorely lacking. What's beautiful about days is that they are just that, days. They grow, they shift, they change, and often times you may just get a little light when you least expect it :D Ever since Hunter was born Sesame Street has been my almost daily companion, even when she was too little to even know what anything beyond Mom. I'm thankful to have programs like Sesame Street out there, they are smart, empowering and quite entertaining, with lots of lovable monsters. Oh how I love monsters! Happy 40th Anniversary Sesame Street!

Sunday Moments: NaVloPoMo Day 8

Moments, flashes of a gorgeous November afternoon at Grandma's house. It was in the upper 60s, with sunny skies and not a cloud in the sky. The afternoon was just as lovely. There is something to be said for moments, especially moments of quiet stillness between family. Love. Navlomopo Day 8!

A Saturday Afternoon Was Take Over By Health Care Reform: NaVloPoMo Day 7

I got a little creative with my daily video in November. I had a plan as to what I wanted to shoot today. We were going to go to Babies R Us to stock up on some essentials for Hunter. I thought it would be great to share some of the stuff that we like. But, the Saturday was taken over by Healthcare Reform. We ended up staying at grandma's house and watching CSPAN basically the whole afternoon. Well, I must admit that I didn't watch. I'm a bit too overwhelmed by all of it, and my mind can't really capture what's going on. So, I got creative and expressed it via my daily vid for NaVloPoMo09 or National Vlog Posting Month Peace

External Hard Drive Rant: NaVloPoMo Day 4

So, I'm a Mom. I have very limited time to do much online. I require things to go smoothly and efficiently as I don't have time for poopy things that come up...which is why I'm on a Mac. Today, I got exacerbated UGH Lost time, nothing solved, blame lies on hardware, software AND of course the User (yours truly) equally. Blah. ****UPDATE**** The issue was absolutely all about the seagate external hard drive, nothing to do with the software. All solved now, though, nice and backed up!

Reading and Hunter's Moon: NaVloPoMo Day 2

A bit of reading with Hunter outside of a lovely church near our home. She's learning so much about the world every second! and she makes me laugh at all the knew things that she does every day :) She was named after the moon following the Harvest Moon, which generally falls in October (this year it came in November exactly one month after her birthday). The moon celebrated her 13th year of life.

Hunter Goes To The Zoo: NaVloPoMo Day 1

We finally took Hunter to the Zoo! It was a fantastic time. She really loves animals and I think she was a bit overwhelmed by the fact that they were much much MUCH bigger than she imagined :) I'm using this video as my first post in my participation in NaVloPoMo, basically, a new video every day in November! I did this last year and now upon looking back at it, it was pretty darn sweet. Great memories. If you would like to see the Elsie November 2008 Catalog, go for it! VloMo08 Day 8: Sleep-Less

Hunter has her good days and those days that she decides she doesn't really want to sleep for very long, 1 to 2 hrs at most. It's like some horrible form of torture as I begin to fall asleep and bam, time to wake up again. I've never worn Pijamas so much in my life!

Handstand at the Wall 31 Weeks Pregnant

I shot this while I was 31 Weeks pregnant with my daughter Hunter. Inversions are not contraindicated in pregnancy, although, like anything in yoga, if you do practice any sort of yoga, make sure that you have a qualified teacher helping you out, or at the very least have been practicing inversions for quite a while. My body felt great doing inversions, yours may not. Always listen to your own body, make sure you honor your baby

VloMo08 Day 6: Bliss in the Morning

I had to get up this morning. Had work to do. Hunter was sleeping craddled on my arm, so I just couldn't bring myself to wake her, or move away from her because the moment was just PERFECT! VloMo08 Day 4: November 4- Election Day 2008

Went to cast our vote at about 11am this morning in Wilkinsburg, PA. The line was not very long. I would say that it took us about 30 mi for the whole process. All and all a pretty seamless pleasant experience.
