There’s a common misconception when it comes to losing weight and “dieting,” a lot of people think that going quitting junk food and going cold turkey is the answer, they’re wrong.
If you believe that that’s the answer you have a slim chance of having success at it because this is what most people do.
They have a terrible day on Sunday, eating any and everything that they love, almost like a going away party. They say to themselves, “on Monday, I’m going to do it, I’ll eat nothing but wheat germ and drink slim-fast and water.” They go through a few days of starving to death waiting for their next “healthy” meal and a week later, they start eating the stuff they’ve been deprived of.
I used to do it, my family, friends and coworkers have done the same thing, it flat out isn’t a long term plan and for most people it won’t work.
I’m not saying there aren’t people out there who can’t go cold turkey and they’d be okay but for most of us, it’s not a plan that is going to last very long.
If you really want to lose weight long-term you have to make a shift in your lifestyle and stop trying to take shortcut.
Take the things you like (cookies, cake, burgers, fries, hot chocolate) and find a different way to make them. Instead of drinking the vitamin D (full fat) milk try 2%, then 1% and maybe even 1/2 %, don’t try and go from vitamin D to skim milk right away.
There’s a great website to find different recipes called AllRecipes.com where you can find the nutritional information and reviews for just about anything. Take the recipes from that websites and sites like it and start making alternatives to the things you like.
The process of shifting your lifestyle is much slower than going cold turkey, rather than losing 10 lbs in a week you may lose 2 lbs, but 2 months later you’ll still be on your healthy lifestyle eating regimen because you’re eating the things you like. If yo
