Bank pay for new hires holds steady

Public outrage about Wall Street pay has done little to limit compensation packages offered to new hires. The reason is that many bankers being hired these days are rainmakers who have proven they can generate business even in a difficult climate, says Maurice Toueg, a partner with executive recruiter Capstone Partnership. What has changed is how those packages are structured.

Job market brightens for unemployed bankers

Thousands of bank employees have lost their jobs since the financial crisis hit. While the job market remains difficult, banks are hiring for certain positions. Morgan Stanley's Kindler on corporate development

Rob Kindler, global head of M&A at Morgan Stanley, says more corporations are hiring corporate development staff in-house. "We used to do a lot more deal due diligence, the bankers did a lot more of that, but now the corporations have quite wisely understood that they need to have people do the due diligence who have to live with the assets," he explains.
