Go to www.mozilla.com and download the latest version of firefox, install it, let it be the default browser. Next, when first run, it will ask to import Internet Explorer's bookmarks, click Don't import. Now once the main window opens, click Tools > Addons. Type in Adblock Plus, hit ENTER, click Adblock Plus (might need to scroll down a bit to find it), click 'Add to firefox'. A popup window will appear, click Install. Once installed, it will prompt you to restart firefox, do it. Now once firefox reappears, select Easylist (USA) (also works for canadians) or the one appropriate for your country. Click Subscribe and THAT'S IT! Ads should now be blocked.

This is the standard, full screen version using the Openbox window manager. Showing you that in just two clicks (once installed), you can change the window manager of your distribution. The sound wasn't lagged this time. Openbox wins. CAUTION: I do NOT recommend changing window managers when using GTK-recordMyDesktop on Linux (Ubuntu, etc) as there is an unknown conflict between processes. It will simply log you out of your session and restart the X-Server.
