Yield Spread Premium as received by the mortgage broker is required by Federal law (RESPA) to be fully disclosed. Even though the banker or lender is making a great deal more profit on their interest markup they are not required to disclose. It's an old battle but the facts are the facts. Sure, YSP is abused by some greedy mortgage brokers - however, it IS disclosed and abused SRP by the lender is not disclosed. Furthermore not one mortgage broker has ever been able to approve their own loans so the lender MUST approve the broker's YSP. Most adversaries of YSP are completely wrong either by ignorance or by choice. (Ignorance, by the way, is not a bad word - it simply means "didn't know").
