Sky Time-lapse, July 17, 2009

Another timelapse. This one combines 3900 photos taken one every 10 seconds and then made into a movie at 30 fps. So each second of this movie is 5 minutes of time -- stretched out over 10+ hours. HIghlights include moving cloud bank and clouds, the idiot who ran over my sunflowers with a lawn mower, sprinklers on timers, and great colors around sunset. Please comment if you like or hate this. I'm thinking about a 24-hour time-lapse and need some motivation.

Clean Office Timelapse

My latest timelapse. Did I mention I was hooked on this stuff? In this one, I'm cleaning my office. One shot per 30 seconds, made into a movie at 10 frames per second. I ran some errands in the middle of this and shut the camera off so it wouldn't be a very long stretch with nothing going on. What's interesting is what a disaster area my office was before I began and how nice and neat it looked at the end. Also interesting is my dog, who looked like a fixture in a good portion of this movie.

Saguaro Flower/Clouds Timelapse

The main goal was to create a timelapse movie of today's saguaro flowers closing. (They bloom at night and are wilted and closed by late afternoon.) But I set up the camera to include the sky beyond, which was just filling with clouds. The building clouds stole the show.

Backyard Timelapse

The second effort focused on one of my backyard trees. I filled the feeder with food and turned on the sprinkler for a while. Then we went out. I had the Pclix set for one shot every 40 seconds and let it run for about 7 hours. This is part of the movie. I really can't see subjecting anyone to more of the same. To say it's boring is an understatement. It could cure insomnia. Check this tidbit for yourself and let me know if you agree.

Kitchen Timelapse

Another time-lapse experiment. In this movie, I set the camera to take a shot once every 20 seconds. I had my 10.5 mm fisheye lens attached to the camera, which sat on a tripod in the corner of the kitchen on a countertop. I then went about tidying up the place, taking my time about it. I had the camera set at f22, so the shutter speed was relatively show, adding some motion blur to some of the shots. I put the movie together at 15 frames per second.

Night Timelapse 1

My first nighttime experiment with timelapse photography using my Nikon D90 and Pclix. Sadly, I didn't have much juice left in the Nikon's battery, so this sample is mercifully short. Nice star movement, though. This was shot from my back patio. I thought seeing my neighbor's lights go out might be interesting. It wasn't. Working on more interesting content now.
