About the time we were getting ready to announce that Drift mode was going to be in Need for Speed Shift, I got the chance to sit down and chat with Vaughn Gittin Jr. (known as "JR") about him, drifting and his involvement in Need for Speed Shift. Before the interview, I asked our community if they had any questions for JR and you guys sent me a bunch. I tried to get as many of the community questions in as possible but I also had some questions of my own that I wanted to ask him. We had so much to talk about that I had to break the interview up into three parts. Here is part one and features JR talking about this year's Formula D tournament, the Falken Tire 2010 Ford Racing Mustang and his early days of drifting. Enjoy!

Crash Tests of 2-Door Cars

Crash tests demonstrate that occupant protection in all kinds of vehicles is improving. However, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety doesn't routinely test vehicles in every size/type category. Emphasizing vehicles for family use, the Institute usually crash tests 4-door models. To evaluate the extent to which automakers are extending crashworthiness improvements to 2-door cars, the Institute recently conducted front, side, and rear tests of 2009 coupes including the Chevrolet Cobalt, Ford Focus, Honda Civic, and Scion tC, all small models, plus the midsize Volvo C30.
