Dal 1999, da quando la NATO ha vinto la guerra contro la Serbia e insieme alle Nazioni Unite ha preso il controllo del Kosovo, 250.000 serbi sono stati cacciati dal Kosovo solo per ragioni di odio etnico, solo perch serbi. Le loro case sono state bruciate, le loro terre sono state devastate, le loro chiese sono state distrutte, anche le pi antiche e preziose, quelle del 1300, i loro cimiteri sono stati profanati a colpi di pala e di piccone, interi quartieri sono stati messi a fuoco solo per impedire ai serbi che vivevano l da centinaia di anni di poterci ritornare. Nonostante la presenza della Nato gruppi armati di kosovari di etnia albanese hanno messo in atto una delle pi sistematiche e feroci pulizie etniche che lEuropa ha vissuto dopo la seconda guerra mondiale, distruggendo cos lidea stessa di un paese multietnico che pure era stata allorigine della campagna militare della NATO contro la Serbia. Ma ce di pi: in questi nove anni il Kosovo diventato la porta principale di ingresso della droga nel nostro Paese e in tutta Europa e, sempre nonostante la presenza della Nato e delle Nazioni Unite, il Kosovo si trasformato in una piccola Colombia, un Narcostato nel cuore dellEuropa. I numeri sono impressionanti: l80 per cento di tutta la droga prodotta in Afghanistan per entrare in Europa passa dalle valli e dalle montagne del Kosovo liberato. Le enormi ricchezze accumulate con il traffico della droga hanno reso potenti allestero e in patria i clan mafiosi kosovaro albanesi, capaci di inquinare in profondit i partiti che oggi guidano il Kosovo, mettendo cos un enorme punto interrogativo sulla natura democratica del nuovo Stato nato il 17 febbraio di questanno con un atto unilaterale. Playwright Harold Pinter, an outspoken opponent of NATO's war against Serbia, presented a coherent and well-argued case opposing the military action on BBC 2 television last Tuesday evening. Using news footage and interviews specially recorded for the programme, Pinter showed how the media are being manipulated, and that the humanitarian justification for the war is false.In a powerful condemnation of the war, Pinter described the NATO onslaught against Serbia as "a bandit action, committed with no serious consideration of the consequences, ill-judged, ill-thought, miscalculated, an act of deplorable machismo".Pinter was shown questioning British Defence Minister George Robertson at a news conference. The playwright, citing the Geneva Convention outlawing military attacks on civilian targets, demanded to know how the bombing of a Serbian TV station could be described as anything other than murder. "Mr. Pinter has obviously got a new occupation now but I know his views," was the arrogant reply from Robertson. He justified the bombing by claiming that such targets were the "brains behind the brutality", and "part and parcel of the apparatus that is driving ethnic genocide".Such claims--which have been used repeatedly to justify whatever horrors NATO perpetrates--were challenged in the programme. Former Labour Foreign Secretary Dennis Healey rejected the idea that the expulsion of the Kosovar Albanians was the same as genocide. He pointed out that NATO's actions were contrary to the United Nations charter, which Britain had signed. NATO was bombing a fellow UN member, without UN authority.Jake Lynch of Sky News explained how the news media are being manipulated to support the aggressive war drive. When NATO bombed a refugee convoy there was a delay of several days before the cockpit video, normally shown at the next daily press conference, was released to the media.
