NewTeeVee Is Building Community Online and in the Real World

Last night online video blog NewTeeVee had a real world meet up in Hollywood as part of their NewTeeVee Pier Screenings series.

Some of online videos biggest celebrities were there including Kent Nichols from Ask A Ninja, Hayden Black from Good Night Burbank / Abigail's Teen Diary doogtoons' Doug Bressler and Casey McKinnon and Rudy Jahcha from Galacticast. Also present were new media agents from UTA and ICM as well as Judges: Lydia Antonini from Warner Bros.,Allen DeBevoise of Machinima.com and Aaron Simpson of Cold Hard Flash,

Execs like Angel Gyetvan from UStream and others from College Humor and CBS Interactive were also there.

I had a great time and got a few moments to chat with Liz Gannes about what NewTeeVee is, what they are doing and what they mean to independent content creators.

Nike Launches Innovative Online Ad Campaign Powered is by VideoEgg

We think the success of online advertising will result from user interaction. Beyond just watching a video or seeing some snazzy Flash ad, users who opt-in to explore an ad will be more likely to establish brand loyalty...and buy stuff.

VideoEgg is on the leading edge of creative use of Flash and online video. The company has just launched a program for Nike in the United States.

It is an interactive shopping tool which is aimed at high-school and college women. It is running on 200 social media sites. Very interesting sharing functionality. See a screen grab below.

"Big Money" for Original Web Video will come from Brand Integration and Product Placement, CBS' Jigar Thakarar

CBS Sees Sponsored Web Video Programming as Viable Model

PALO ALTO -- It's back to the future for the business of Web video: Advertiser-sponsored programming from the early days of television, when Texaco, Geritol and Lucky Strike paid to develop or sponsor new programming, is the most viable business model now for episodic content created for the Web, says Jigar Thakarar, director of content management at CBS Interactive.

Jigar, based in Los Angeles, recently joined CBS from CAA where he was an agent doing many Web video deals. He says in this interview that CBS is actively looking at acquisitions from "from Web creators to Hollywood talent."

Of the CNET acquisition and the strategy around building the news operation, he says that there is a big focus on developing vertical or niche content.

HP Has MTV-Like Webisode
