The MOST difficult thing is not on the receiving side, it is on the giving side. Try giving honest, open feedback for an entire week. Don't hold anything back. Don't try to be nice. Say exactly what is in your head. I guarantee it will be the most difficult week of your life. Now, that's not to say receiving it is easy either. Has anyone ever given you straight, unabashed negative feedback about something you've done that you were proud of? How did that feel? How did you react? Were you angry? Resentful? Violent? Resistant? Don't beat yourself up. That is perfectly normal. Only those that have trained themselves to accept feedback as just that... feedback, have the ability to look at it neutrally. As something that can help them to get better. As a way of improving themselves. Well, I received some unabashed, negative feedback about some videos I've been putting out there from the person closest to me, my wife. And how did I react? Exactly. Anger. Resentment. Resistance. Blair Singer, author of Sales Dogs and The ABCs of Building Business Teams That Win, taught me an extremely valuable technique for setting and achieving goals. It is called PERT (Program Evaluation and Review Technique) and it is critical to ensuring your reach the goals you set for yourself or your business. Simply put, you start out in the future, at the point you've reached your goal, then you work backwards. Each time you work back a step you ask yourself the question "What happened just before that?" By using sticky notes on a wall or white board, you have the ability to move them around, add new steps between other steps, change the path of the goal, etc. It allows you to get extremely detailed about the steps you will take in acheiving your goal. My Mom used to say that I would worry about everything, even stuff not about me. The fact is that I've carried that forward into my adult life as well. I have actually become adicted to worry. I could not find a way to get out of the worry habit. Until I spoke to my personal coach about it. And what he told me and the simple exercise he gave me has changed my life. He gave me these four steps that will help to break me of the habit of worry: 1) Recognize and admit that you are doing it to yourself when it is happening 2) Breathe. Simply take a deep breath. Allow your body to become still. 3) Go back to sensation - touch, taste, smell, etc. Feel your arms on your chair, your hands on the steering wheel, or smell some incense, essential oil or perfume. Allow your mind to become present with your surroundings. 4) Reconnect with the divine. Regain your connection to your true self, your genius, your higher being. By following these steps, you will actually reconnect the neural pathways in your brain to form an entirely new habit and at the same time break the old one. Expanding Your Business Can Magnify Issues You Have At The Core

If the distance of a 1 degree angle at the core is just 1 inch wide, the further out you go, the wider the angle is. So, if there is a flaw at the center, the further out you go, the more pronounced the flaw is. The more visible it is. The more it affects the whole. This is the same with a business. If there is a defect in the systems, or communication, or cash flow of the business, the further out you go, the worse it gets. This is especially true with franchise or affiliate businesses. Where the distance from center to edge can be quite far. As the business begins to grow outward, small issues become big problems that can interfere with the operation and sustainability of the business itself.
