Sophia Tolliver, Program Manager, The Diversity Enhancement Program at The James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Instituite, graduates United Way of Central Ohio's Project Diversity's Cycle 18. PROJECT DIVERSITY provides minority professionals with training to expand their leadership capabilities and allow them to better represent diverse perspectives in policy-making situations. Through lectures, hands-on workshops, assignments and simulated activities, PROJECT DIVERSITY helps mid-to-senior level minority professionals improve their leadership skills. Training focuses on governance, management, strategic planning, fiscal management, marketing, fundraising, parliamentary procedures, legal responsibilities and conflict resolution. This clip captures the early journeys of Himalayan Consensus founder, Laurence Brahm, traveling the Himalayan Region in early 2002. Here, Brahm was inspired by all types of community members, from monks to artists to world leaders, whose visions to support the sustainability of their culture, economy, and environment took form of pragmatic grassroots initiatives. These inspirations in turn inspired Brahm to put the Himalayan Consensus into action, starting his own Shambhala Social Enterprise in 2005.

Himalayan Consensus is a new economic paradigm that calls for ethnic diversity, cultural sustainable development and the protection of our environment. It heralds an era of compassionate capitalism, where people are more than statistics, and we throw out the common economic assumption that people are only driven by greed. Himalayan Consensus has three principles: 1) discard economic theory if it does not work and instead address actual needs of people; 2) draw upon values of compassion, care for others, and respect our natural environment; 3) let each people, ethnic group and nation seek their own right of determination and system of governance that responds to the needs of their own people.
