The Distillery District is located in downtown Toronto, Ontario. It was built in 1832 as the Gooderham and Worts Distillery, and has since been renovated and re-developed to feature numerous boutique retailers, cafes, restaurants, shops and art galleries. With over forty heritage buildings, the Distillery District boasts the largest collection of Victorian-era industrial architecture in North America. It is interesting to note that the Distillery District is the largest Hollywood set outside of Hollywood. Redhook Ale - Treblehook Limited Edition

The fine folks at Redhook recently sent us a very limited edition of their barley wine called Treblehook. This is a very complex beer that was brewed over time and great care. It was actually dry hopped vigorously for six months, but don't be fooled, the malt flavors still shine through. This is another fine example of a beer that can be enjoyed now, or cellared for a few years and enjoyed later. Distributed by Tubemogul.

How Cases of Beer Are Made - Magic Hat Brewery

While on vacation in Burlington, Vermont my wife and I visited the Magic Hat Brewery (South Burlington) for a tour. We got to walk along above the brewery and watch them pour beer into bottles, label them, put them into six packs, then cases. It was really interesting to look at. Not to mention that you can have all the free samples of the many variety of Magic Hat beers in their on-site pub. Here's my Mister Rodgers inspired video.

Although the fall season is dominated by Marzen and Oktoberfest style beers, the sleeper seasonal is the Harvest Ale. A fantastic style, it celebrates the final harvest of the season. The Bateman's Combined Harvest Ale, from the George Bateman & Sons company and the Salem Bridge Brewery, really goes after the grain, including barley, oats, wheat, and rye! We often only get a single grain, let alone four! Despite that, it's only 4.7% ABV. Brewed in the Burton-Upon-Trent style, using hard water to enhance flavor, this impressed Dave and really impressed Johnny.
