净空法师主讲 - 学佛释疑178 (9 Nov 2007) 問：下面第二個問題，現在是個競爭的社會，科技高速發展，人人追求私利。許多家長擔心學習《弟子規》，變得很老實、很純正，會不會在社會上處處吃虧，受人欺負，不適應現在這個競爭的環境？答：學佛就是學老實。我在當年，很年輕的時候學佛，二十六歲就學佛，三十歲我把工作辭掉，我專心學佛。許多人罵我、責備我，說我自私自利，年輕應該要奉獻給國家社會，為什麼逃避責任，跑到廟裡面去念佛去，說我消極、迷信。我只有自己清楚，跟他們講不清楚，只有一個人贊成，方東美先生。我出家之後去見他，他一看到我：你真幹了！我說是，老師不是說學佛是人生最高的享受嗎？「對，真的，沒錯，你路走對了！」只有一個人讚歎，其他人統統都是毀謗的、都是諷刺的，我這個路走出來了。現在這些年來，諸位看得很清楚，我們把佛法、把中國傳統的學術、把每個宗教的優點帶到全世界，團結宗教。把中國傳統的教學，可以化解衝突、可以恢復全世界的社會安定，跟世界和平，我們在湯池做的樣子，提供給聯合國做參考。聯合國是真的，不是假的，真的尋求和平，找不到門道。我們做出這個樣子，給他們做報告，他們很驚訝、非常歡喜，所以駐聯合國各個的大使都希望到湯池來參觀、來考察。這就是說明他們真的有化解衝突、促進世界和平的誠意，我們非常歡迎他來參觀指教。還有人建議，希望聯合國設個專門辦公室，來推動這種方式來化解衝突、促進世界和平，聯合國祕書長也很歡喜，好事。現在是大家談談，也許過幾年它真的變成事實，這很難講的。所以這是對社會有貢獻，對世界和平有貢獻，怎麼能說這是消極！所以我也接受好幾個大學的教授。佛教釋迦牟尼佛當年在世，從開悟之後就開始教學，一直教到老死。他老人家七十九歲過世的，講經教學四十九年，你能說他消極嗎？用現在人的眼光來看，釋迦牟尼佛不是神，他也不是仙，他是人。他什麼身分？他是職業老師。跟中國孔老夫子一樣有教無類，不分國籍、不分族群、不分宗教，只要你肯來學，他就很認真來教你，他是教師。他不收學費，不像孔子，孔子還收個束脩，有點象徵的學費，釋迦牟尼佛不收學費。所以他是個義務社會教育的工作者，這名正言順，這要懂。我們學佛就是學釋迦牟尼佛。學習的時候是很辛苦，我學了十三年開始出來教，教到今年剛剛好也是四十九年，沒有一天不教學，沒有一天不跟大家講解經教。經教裡頭講什麼東西？剛才跟諸位講過，佛經裡面所講的是倫理、道德、因果、哲學、科學，沒有迷信。現在是社會大眾對佛教知道太少、接觸太少，所以產生嚴重的誤會，這是真的。我在沒有遇到方老師之前，也是很深的誤會，認為它是宗教、認為它是迷信。方老師介紹之後我才接觸，接觸之後才恍然大悟，不是一般人所想像的，這裡頭有真學問。方老師講學佛是人生最高的享受，那一點都不錯，真的。所以，我們終身感謝老師，不是老師介紹怎麼會知道，永遠不會知道，感謝老師的教導。社會競爭是錯誤的，競爭升級就是鬥爭，鬥爭升級就是戰爭。現在的戰爭是核武、生化，那就是人類在地球上整個毀滅，這是很可怕的事情。我們對聯合國非常敬佩，就是說它真有心想化解衝突，促進安定和平。我在做了多次的講演，要想達到這個目的，必須用聖賢的教學。首先我們不要競爭，競爭是西方的，中國的教育五千年來從小教什麼？教禮讓、教謙讓，沒有教競爭的，競爭一發展，後來是毀滅。中國人對於利看得很輕，對於義看得很重，仁義看得重，利還看得很輕，不重視這個，你看這五千年的文化底蘊多厚。我們在湯池一年多的教學，人民覺悟過來、醒過來了，醒過來怎麼樣？利就看得輕，仁義看得重。當地的年輕人在外地工作，一個月可以能賺到兩千塊錢，不要了，回家去，回家去一個月賺五百塊錢。他歡喜，回家天天跟家人團聚，有親情；在外面工作雖然賺到錢，親情淡薄，他現在嘗到了。所以原來出去的這些年輕人，都願意回來，聽說家鄉這麼好，人人都懂得禮貌，再沒有爭執。離婚沒有了，不像從前離婚率很高，現在離婚沒有了；兒子懂得孝順父親，孝子多了；婆媳關係處好了，不再吵架了；鄰居互助、相讓，不再爭了，過去跟鄰居是吵架，爭，現在懂得謙讓，這怎麼不好！這個社會一團和氣，進入這個小鎮，磁場就不一樣。你說哪一種好？科技發展到最後，如果沒有倫理、道德、因果，科技會把世界毀滅，科技已經走到了盡頭，充滿了危機。所以現在西方人向中國、向印度去求寶，如何來化解，這個我們要懂得。你要說富貴貧賤，你懂得因果，你曉得那是你命裡有的。你命裡有富貴，富貴自然來，不要去爭，自然來，無論你經營哪種行業都賺錢，命裡有；命裡沒有的時候，用什麼方式你去賺都賺不到，這個道理要懂。你明白之後，古人說一句話說得好，「君子樂得作君子，小人冤枉作小人」。怎樣才能致富？《了凡四訓》是個好例子，你看看袁了
