Sardinien oder auch die Isola dei Nuraghi, wie die Einheimischen die Insel nennen, verfügt über eine lange zurück reichende Geschichte. Die ältesten Zeugnisse der sardischen Kultur sind an die 4000 Jahre alt. Die Nuraghen, prähistorische Steinbauten, von denen noch heute mehr als 6000 auf der Insel zu sehen sind. Wein wird auf Sardinien nachweislich seit dem neunten Jahrhundert vor unserer Zeitrechnung kulitiviert, häufig wechselnde Herrschaftsverhältnisse brachten über die Jahrhunderte vielfältiges landwirtschaftliches Wissen auf die Insel.
Im Besonderen die Spanier brachten im Mittelalter ihre einheimischen Rebsorten auf die Nuraghen Insel, wo sie noch immer mit großem Erfolg angebaut werden, so wie die Sorten Cannonau, die mit der spanischen Garnacha und der französischen Grenache Noir identisch ist, und die Rebsorte Carignano, die in ihrer spanischen Heimat auch als Mazuelo bezeichnet wurd, und ursprünglich zum traditionellen Rioja Cuvée gehörte. Diese Rebsorten bringt nur unter extremen, vor allem trockenen und heißen, Bedingung und unter geringem Ertrag konzentrierte Weine hervor. Carignan ist zu dem noch extrem anfällig für Fäulnis und Pilzbefall. Zwar sind die klimatischen Verhältnisse auf der Insel ausgezeichnet geeignet, die gesetzlichen Ertragsgrenzen aber zu hoch. Freiwillige Mengenreduktion wird nur von wenigen Betrieben praktiziert, so dass sich die sardischen Spitzenweine leicht an einer Hand abzählen lassen.
Robert Naser verkostet nur die beiden unumstrittenen Topweine der Region. Sehen Sie selbst, ob diese beiden Sarden zu recht im Weinolymp weilen.

Zunächst ist Bardolino ein kleiner Ort am Ostufer des Gardasees im Norden Italiens. Für viele Süddeutsche ist es durch die geringe Entfernung eines der beliebtesten Urlaubsziele, vor allem in den kürzeren Ferien wie Ostern oder Pfingsten. Vermutlich ist fast jedem Urlauber dort auch der gleichnamige Wein serviert worden. Der Bardolino ist ein leichter Rotwein der typischerweise aus den Rebsorten Corvina, Rondinella und Molinara vinifiziert wird. Bei moderneren Varianten ist heute auch Merlot oder Cabernet-Sauvignon im Cuvee. Der Bardolino ist durch die Rebsortenverwandschaft sozusagen der kleine Bruder des ebenfalls sehr bekannten Valpolicella. Neben den verwendeten Trauben teilen Valpolicella und Bardolino auch ihre Probleme, ihnen eilt ein oft nicht all zu positiver Ruf voraus. Bedingt durch Massenproduktion und überhöhte Erträge werden die beiden Weine zumindest mit belanglosen oft aber sogar mit ungenießbaren Weinen derselben Herkunftsbezeichnung assoziiert.
Sehen Sie also selbst, wie es derzeit um den Bardolino bestellt ist. Robert Naser verkostet drei Vertreter des DOC Gebietes Bardolino.
