I'll add a vote for a user option. Personally I don't mind auto-play when I'm on a video site (hate it on embeds though), but a user option seems like it would keep everyone happy.

Would like to see a viewer option. Cause I don't like my own videos to auto-play, but I like to see others start right away. Cheers!

I like the idea. Autoplay when on viddler.com but I hate it when you go to a site and they all auto play lol.

I concur. It'd be horrible if someone came to my homepage and everything started auto-playing. I sometimes have four or five videos on the homepage. Click-to-play is definitely better when we're talking about embeds, but on Viddler itself I'd rather have autoplay.

Not answering the question, but suggesting something related: would it be possible to start buffering the video even when it's not set to auto-play? It would eliminate some of the lag once you do decide to hit the play button.

I think the user option is the best. It's always good to give control to the video maker as long as it doesn't jeopardize the service. Keep up the good work you guys are doing.

Depending on what the expectations of the user are. For example, if you are on the front page of Yahoo! and you see a link labeled "Watch Last Night's Jay Leno monologue" then that makes sense to do autoplay. However if you are clicking on a link labeled "Enter to win a trip for 2 to Hawaii" and you go to the page and the Luau video is blasting at the highest volume that it isn't appropriate.

Well, to me it's normal to play automatically on a page...

If I had the luxury... user option. If not... click-to-play seems less intrusive on page loads. Thanks for asking!
