2 years ago 0 + -Sony Vegas only available on Windows (grrr) and changed playback rate to 4x, by right clicking the video and going to properties. Then I added additional effect called "Velocity" which allows me to speed it up an additional 2x.
I have seen similar effects on iMovie and would imagine you would have to reencode a few times to get it to the desired speed to time ratio you are looking for.
