About This Video
Working in Amy's (my girlfriend's) backyard there was a big date palm that had to be removed. I've never seen what palm trees are made of but after this experience I know all about them. Pretty interesting make up actually.
Technique: Take off the off-chutes, then start relief cutting the trunk and cross-cut under those and keep going.
Bottom got interesting as it's mostly all water inside, much like an apple how it chunks off in a wet snap. I picked out the middle wet parts which left the outer edges (which are super TOUGH and hard). Cut those up like a pizza at angles all around to the bottom (about ground level) and they started to fall apart. Then it's just taking out the root system and it's all gone.
Total time... about 3.5 hours.
