How to select dry wood for a wood stove

Were you burning green wood (not intentionally) in your wood stoves, and discovered that the catalytic heater, if your wood stove has one, or the chimney pipe has clogged up, and shut down your fire? This can be very inconvenient as pipes can freeze, too. You probably have to call in a chimney sweep or trades person.

There IS a way to avoid this, as I discovered when I spent several weeks at a farmhouse with three wood stoves.

As an inventor and tinkerer and problem solver, I was happy to aid my hosts with a method I discovered to scientifically identify which logs in the log pile should be selected for the wood stove.
