Is this allowed from right now? Or is it happening soon?

From what I understand it's allowed now but the apps need to
get the wifi only lock off of them. So when ever developers release an update to their apps it will be final

I think it's awesome because calls (especially international calls) cost a lot less over Skype/VoIP.

I hope this will work on Australian mobile networks too!

I'm assuming this means Google Voice is in the App Store now? *Checks* Hm... I guess not yet.

Google Voice is especially handy for me because it means friends/companies in the USA can leave a voicemail/text message on a US number (that doesn't actually belong to any carrier or forward to any phone) and I can check it online.

Rogers is losing the iphone contract because they didn't stick to Apple's "terms", bell & telus might be getting it, but I will never waste a cent on it.

CDMA is too old, GSM being the norm.

There's tons of other phones that do pretty much the same thing.

Skype is in the app store, as my brother has it installed. Google Voice needs to be shoved in it. Else, jailbreaking time :)

Rogers isn't losing the iPhone compleatly. They aren't having it as a exclusive any more. That's happening all over right now, not with just Rogers. And yes Skype Is in the app store but it can't be used on a 3G network; only wifi.
