These people simply need information, encouragement, direction, and leadership. I welcome their comments. However, they need to realize that Shitzwizz and Gaydon690123 constantly insist that they have the authority to issue judgment on any post that isn't their own. Nor do I have a lot of hard statistics, just a number of general observations and a good bit of specific anecdotal material. Let me begin by saying that it's easy to tell if IT's lying. If his fingers are typing, he's lying. Difficult times lie ahead. Fortunately, we have the capacity to circumvent much of the impending misery by working together to review the basic issues at the root of the debate. It would be great if we could establish a supportive—rather than an intimidating—atmosphere for offering public comment. Still, if we take a step, just a step, towards addressing the issue of simplism, then maybe we can open people's eyes (including our own) to a vision of how to exert a positive influence on the type of Internet that people will live in a thousand years from now.
