About This Video
Cockrane Rabbit Festival is an annual event organized by the Cockrane Village Imporvement Commitee (CVIC).
In 2001, the CVIC received a grant from the GEF Small Grants Programme under the Community Management of Protected Areas Conservation (COMPACT) Project to implement a Eco Village Tansformation Project. The small livestock rearing (rabbit) component was successfully implemented and supplus rabbit led to the organizing of the first Rabbit Festival and Bat Tour in 2004.
2008, the event was celebrated in a huge way as part of Dominica's Reunion 2008 Activities to mark the 30th Anniversary of the Independence from Great Britain.
In 2008, the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela played a major role in the activities leading up to the Festival and during the Festival.
