English project by Shireen Hinckley and three classmates. The topic is oppression in the 1950's, focused around the works of Ginsberg, Plath and as illustrated through the movies Rebel Without a Cause and Pleasantville.

They each wrote and spoke their pieces, Shireen edited them together with video and images. Sorry about the lack of credits for images/clips. It wasn't meant for general public consumption, but I wanted to show it off.

This is the SXSW Keynote video, previously posted on Viddler by allfacebook. (It cuts off
somewhat at the end, but was the most complete I could find).

I have annotated the video with nearly 2000 Twitter messages which were posted from the Keynote. In some cases you'll have to pause to read them. I did group together any posts that occurred within one second of each other. I saw apparent lags of up to fourteen minutes between what some tweets described and what happened in the keynote. After some limited experimenting I finally settled on a five minute lag for all tweets.

The Forgotten Empire of the Achaemenids

A ten minute documentary on the history of the Persian Achaemenid Empire (best known now for being defeated by Alexander). Written, filmed, narrated and edited by my daughter, Shireen Fotouhi Hinckley in 2007 (when she was 14, in Grade 9, Winchester High School). She conducted the interview over Skype.

This was a Senior Division, Individual Documentary submission to the 2007 National History Day competition. The topic was "Triumph and Tragedy". It won an Honorable Mention in the Boston-area Regional Competition.

The Maine Indian Land Claims Case

A ten minute documentary on the Maine Indian Land Claims Case. Written, filmed, narrated and edited by my daughter, Shireen Fotouhi Hinckley (15, Grade 10, Winchester High School). She conducted the interviews in August of 2007.

This was a Senior Division, Individual Documentary submission to the 2008 National History Day competition. The topic this year was "Conflict and Compromise." It won an Honorable Mention in the Boston-area Regional Competition.

She

She hopes to get permission from the Passamaquoddy Tribe to do a longer version of the documentary this summer. She has several hours of interviews, and would like to conduct more. The NHD submission was limited to 10 minutes, and a great deal of information had to be left out.
