Taking out his snack box, water bottle and picture exchange communication system (PECS) book at the start of the day.

He insists on fastening the bag before keeping it.

Looks at the picture on the schedule and he knows which area of the class to go to.

Drops schedule card in the slot and begins to do work independently with no prompting from the teacher.

Notice how he alternates the colours of the clothes pegs.

He looks at the board, determines what shape and colour he should do next and picks out the puzzle piece from the tray.

He has to take the alphabet card, signifying the sequence of the task and paste it on the basket.

Another simple sorting and matching task for him.

All done! The point of the exercise is not how he does each task but how well he can follow the sequence of tasks and do it independently without being told what to do.

A simple high-5 is important in developing eye contact between Ajab and his teacher.
