While cheating upsets everyone, I read that men tend to get more upset about physical affairs and women get more upset about emotional affairs. Judging by the results of this survey compared to the responses of the interview, it seems that:
1. people would never admit to their transgressions publicly, but are more honest anonymously, and
2. maybe the women taking the survey included their emotional affair (flirting with their colleague at work or a constant daydream about another man) while it might have never been sexual. This definitely would have driven up the percentage.
So, it's probably wise not to conclude that the results mean all these mothers are out having sex. I guess it just boils down to what someone considers as an affair. While I think BOTH are reprehensible, others might think "I don't care what he/she does as long as she comes home to me. I trust that he/she won't sleep with them." But, can you trust that he/she won't fall in love with them?
