Leaving Red Creek

We'd stopped at the Red Creek landing strip on our way down the Verde River when we saw another helicopter parked there. We were working on a video project and wanted to interview the pilots. They must have been down by the river because they weren't anywhere near the helicopter. So after screwing around on the ground for a while, I took off back down the strip and turned downriver to complete our flight. This video was taken with a nose-mounted POV.1 camera.

Helicopter Flight from Marble Canyon

Since I haven't had time to post to my blog, I thought I'd upload a new video clip. In this 4+ minute clip, I'm taking off in the helicopter from Marble Canyon Airport and climbing out toward Page, AZ. You'll see my takeoff "roll," the cracked pavement of the taxiway, and the narrow runway at Marble Canyon Airport, before I bank sharply to the right past the Vermillion Cliffs, near historic Navajo Bridge, over Lees Ferry, and up the canyon to Page. No real audio on this one; just some muted helicopter sounds. Comments are welcome -- and appreciated!

Helicopter Flight on Columbia

Okay, so here's yet another video of a helicopter flight down to the Columbia River near Lake Chelan. Features a 1500 foot per minute descent -- that's about the same rate of descent if the engine quit.

Helicopter Flight from Quincy to Chelan

This time, I mounted the camera inside the cockpit on a new mounting pole. (I call it the "wigglestick" because it definitely adds an element of wiggle to the image.) It was a 30-minute flight, but I didn't keep the camera running the whole time. Nice scenery near the end. Would love to read your comments.
